A special late-night museum opening celebrating Lunar New Year at Te Papa Tongarewa. The museum stays open until 9:00 pm, offering extra time to explore exhibitions and enjoy a festive evening experience, followed by a waterfront fireworks display just steps from the museum.
The evening includes insights from internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker Daniel Belton, who shares perspectives on his creative process and collaborations ahead of the screening of his film trilogy Horses, Dragon, and Tiger. After the screening, visitors can enjoy a dragon dance performance in Te Papa’s Wellington Foyer before heading outside to watch the fireworks over the harbour.
An optional ticketed experience is available for those who wish to book an intimate three-course dinner with wine pairings on Rongomaraeroa, including an exclusive viewing area for the fireworks.
