Matariki Tamariki Time is a free, interactive drop-in session for tamariki aged 5 and under, celebrating Matariki through hands-on activities inspired by whetū (stars), waka voyaging, and Māori stories and traditions.
This special Matariki event invites young children and their caregivers to explore celestial navigation, discover traditional tohu of the ocean, and learn about the Matariki star cluster through playful and engaging activities.
Children can take part in a Matariki-themed scavenger hunt, searching for symbols connected to waka navigation such as currents, dolphins and islands, as well as interactive matching activities focused on the Matariki stars and celestial knowledge.
Suitable for tamariki under 5 accompanied by an adult.
This event includes NZSL interpretation and wheelchair access.
