Term focus: Abstract Art
Art that thinks outside the lines
This term, children will explore abstract art by working with shapes, colours, forms and expressive mark making rather than realistic representation. Through experimenting with a wide range of techniques, tools and materials, children will develop their own ideas and personal styles while gaining confidence in creative decision-making.
The programme encourages creative risk-taking and experimentation, with children creating a variety of 2D and 3D abstract artworks inspired by the work and processes of abstract artists. Term 1 is designed both to extend children who feel confident with drawing and to build skills and confidence in those who are less sure.
