Learn ballet & make friends in this 5-week course for absolute beginners.
This course is designed for adults who have never learned ballet before or anyone looking to revisit the fundamentals. Starting with positions of feet and arms, posture, and terminology, it will give you a solid foundation in basic ballet movements. Ballet is not just about dance — it’s about self-expression, discipline, and a sense of accomplishment. Enjoy discovering the beauty of ballet!
Schedule:
- 2:00 – 3:00pm: Barre exercises – learn basic positions and movements at the barre
- 3:00 – 3:15pm: Q&A break / social time – discover more about ballet and make new friends
- 3:15 – 4:00pm: Centre exercises – apply what you learned at the barre, moving freely without support, and learn more movement patterns
Bonus: You’ll receive exercise videos and course handouts so you can review and practise what you’ve learned at home.
About the school: This course is hosted by Mari Ballet Class, passionate about providing a warm, inclusive, and refined space for adult ballet dancers of all levels.
Tutor: Isabella Guyan. Isabella is originally from New Zealand and has trained and performed across the UK, France, and New Zealand. She holds a Diploma in Dance Education in Cecchetti ballet.
What to wear & bring: Please feel free to wear any outfit you find comfortable and easy to move. If you already own a pair of ballet flats, please bring and wear them. If not, you can take trials with socks.
