This hands-on beginner course is perfect for anyone who wants to repair, refresh, or transform small furniture pieces such as chairs or footstools.
Led by an experienced upholsterer with over 35 years of international experience, you’ll build confidence as you work on your own project across multiple sessions. The course focuses on practical skills you can continue using at home.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn:
• Webbing and foam preparation
• Measuring, cutting, and pattern making for fabric
• Material fixing and basic sewing techniques
• Fundamental upholstery methods to restore and transform furniture
You’ll work on your own item during the course, allowing you to apply each technique step by step and see real progress.
Please bring a small, portable furniture piece to each session (such as a dining chair or stool) that you can carry yourself.
You are encouraged to bring your own tools if available, including scissors, tape measure, pens, screwdriver, hammer, pliers, staple gun, and craft knife. Some equipment may be available to borrow.
By the end of the course, you’ll have practical skills and confidence to continue restoring and creating your own furniture at home.
