A one-session workshop for teens to learn metal-smithed jewellery making, including ring sizing, texturing, and soldering.

Craft your own rings in this introduction to metal-smithed jewellery making! In this quick paced one session workshop you’ll learn some metalworking fundamentals to turn raw silver, copper and brass into shining wearable rings. Use hammers and stamps to add textures and simple lettering to customise your creation!

Techniques:

  • Use sizers and jeweller’s callipers to measure ring size
  • Use files and sanding to refine and smooth metal edges and surfaces
  • Use hammers and stamps to texture and form metal
  • Use jeweller’s flame torches to solder join metal
  • Use Dremel & bench polishers to refine & finish metal casts into wearable jewellery

Bring a water bottle and snack for morning tea break.

Accessibility: Wheelchair access into the school and Ceramics Studio is located at the top of the driveway to the left of the main house.
