Get ready to make your LEGO creations come alive! In this fun and creative one-day workshop, children will discover the magic of LEGO stop-motion animation. Using LEGO characters, bricks, imagination, and a tablet, they’ll learn how a series of tiny movements can be transformed into their very own animated movie.
Tutor Guy Capper (Co Creator of Robert and Sheepy) has been teaching Lego Animation for the past 15 years.
Throughout the day, participants will dream up characters and stories, build miniature LEGO sets, and create a short animation of their own. They’ll explore the basics of storytelling, camera positioning, movement, timing, and stop-motion techniques, discovering how filmmakers can make LEGO characters walk, race, fly, disappear, battle monsters, or get themselves into all kinds of hilarious situations.
The workshop is designed to be playful and hands-on, with plenty of room for experimentation and individual creativity. No previous animation experience is needed. Whether your child is a keen LEGO builder, a budding filmmaker, a storyteller, or simply loves inventing new worlds, this workshop gives them the chance to turn their ideas into a movie they can actually watch.
Along the way, they’ll practise patience, problem-solving, visual storytelling, and adding audio and sound fx, and creative teamwork, while discovering just how much fun can happen one tiny frame at a time.
By the end of the day, children will have experienced the whole stop-motion process, from building their first scene to creating their final animated sequence. What to Bring:
Children will work in groups with provided tablets, but are welcome to bring their own devices with Stop Motion Studio or iMotion Pro already installed if they like. If bringing a personal device, please make sure it is fully charged, has enough free storage space for your animation, and is clearly labelled with your child’s name.
All Lego and Lego roads supplied. Students are welcome to bring their own lego vehicle or lego character from home if they have a specific one they'd like to bring to life.
