Auckland BJJ

Auckland BJJ has a strong foundation, established in 2011 by Stuart Mitchell and Serge Morel, both 3rd-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts. The club offers a structured curriculum covering all aspects of BJJ, including self-defence, sport, and competition, with dedicated programs for both adults and children.

Kids’ classes run in line with school terms, delivered in 10-week blocks focused on core fundamentals such as mount, back control, side control, and closed guard.

Adult classes are divided into beginner and advanced levels. Beginners follow a 12 Week Challenge program, designed to build a solid foundation by focusing on one key position each week. The rotating structure allows flexibility, enabling participants to catch up on missed sessions.

The advanced group focuses on more complex techniques, including spider guard, inverted guards, heel hooks, and other advanced concepts, supporting progression for blue, purple, and brown belts.

Adult classes run six days a week. Kids’ classes are held on Mondays (ages 8–16) and Thursdays (all ages 5+).
