Te Whatu Stardome

Te Whatu Stardome is Auckland’s astronomy centre and planetarium, dedicated to sharing astronomy and mātauranga Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau.

Located in Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill Domain, Stardome offers planetarium shows, night-sky experiences and educational programmes that invite visitors to explore the connections between people, Earth and the cosmos. Since opening in 1967, it has been a place of discovery, learning and inspiration for the community.

In partnership with mana whenua Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, Stardome now carries the name Te Whatu, reflecting its commitment to bicultural practice and the integration of Māori knowledge into every part of its work.
