Join Margaret Taylor for a creative painting workshop and learn to paint an artwork in the flamboyant style of Frida Kah
This mixed media workshop lets you develop a version of her magical realist style. You can choose to paint a still life, self-portrait or her portrait with exotic elements meaningful to your story. Frida Kahlo loved bright colours, birds, monkeys and exotic settings. She also used symbolism to communicate her story. Please note I have drawing aids, exercises and simple solutions for those who lack confidence or skill in drawing faces. Learn how to:
-
sketch a recognisable face with appropriate proportions
-
mix skin tone colours
-
select & use vibrant background & highlight colours to bring your painting to life
-
add birds, animals, head-dress, jewellery or objects meaningful to your story - collaged imagery can also work here if you like
-
