Ngā Whetū o Ngahuru (The Stars of Autumn) is an interactive planetarium experience exploring the night sky through a Māori lens.
Discover how the stars are understood within mātauranga Māori and how the skies above serve as a living calendar, offering insight into seasonal changes on the whenua (land) and in the moana (ocean).
Learn about the maramataka, the Māori lunar calendar and traditional time-keeping system, in which the new year begins in midwinter with the rising of Matariki.
Blending pūrākau (traditional narratives) with practical astronomy, this immersive journey connects ancestral knowledge with contemporary science, culminating in a voyage to the edge of the observable universe.
Total duration: 50 minutes.
