Begin your te reo Māori learning journey in this welcoming beginner course that introduces both the language and cultural context of te ao Māori.
Each week you will build your skills step by step while gaining a deeper understanding of Māori language and traditions.
During the course you will explore:
• Correct pronunciation and commonly used greetings
• Karakia (prayers) and whakataukī / whakatauāki (proverbs)
• Numbers, personal pronouns and everyday expressions
• Creating simple sentences in te reo Māori
• An introduction to the ‘a’ and ‘o’ categories
• The mihimihi process, including pepeha or whakapapa sharing
This course offers a respectful and supportive introduction to te reo Māori and is ideal for anyone wanting to build foundational language skills while learning about Māori culture.
