A short, hands-on, introduction to self expression in art and graphic design. Learn basic colour theory and design principles, while experimenting with different approaches and tools. The focus is on process, exploration and building confidence, rather than creating a perfect end result. Expect to try new things, step outside your comfort zone and develop your own creative approach.

Students need to bring:
From home: Disposable gloves (optional), Old t-shirt rag, Paper towels, Large wide mouth plastic jar or yoghurt container (for water).
From stationery store or home: 1 x 30cm rule or similar length (for straight edge), 1 x sharp HB or mechanical pencil, 1 x pair paper scissors, 1 x eraser, 2 x A3 sheet tracing paper (or A2 cut in 1/2), 1 x 2 ended Sharpie: fine / ultra fine tips.
The following list of materials are available from The Drawing Room: 1 x A4 (approx) canvas, Set of sharpened coloured pencils (minimum 12, incl. black & white), Glue stick, Byron paints 75ml (1 of each: warm red, warm yellow, warm blue, black, white), 1 x pallet tray, 1 x black chalk pastel, 1 x 1/2" flat paintbrush.
