Orbital is a dream-like animated exploration of Earth, seen through the perspective of astronauts. Drawing on first-hand accounts and hyper-real visualisations of our planet, this meditative experience invites audiences to form a deeper connection with the world we call home.
Created for 2025 by Guy Reid and Planetary Collective, the film transports viewers through an abstract landscape of light inspired by bioluminescent life on Earth and the shifting colours of atmospheric aurorae.
Guided by the voices of astronauts and cosmonauts from the Constellation Coalition, who have looked back at Earth from space, the experience reflects on the awe of our place in the universe and evokes a sense of the “Overview Effect”.
