Make a stunning heirloom-worthy ring over three sessions! Early bird price of $234 ends 6 July

This workshop is ideal for intermediate-advanced students who have already learned basic soldering and how to bezel set cabochon stones.

A stepped bezel is a beautiful way to set faceted stones, creating a clean, elevated frame that both protects and highlights the gem. In our three-part Stepped Bezel Setting Class, students will learn the complete process of designing and fabricating stepped bezels using sparkling cubic zirconias in copper.

Designed for jewellers looking to refine their fabrication and setting skills, this hands-on workshop explores how to create clean, professional stepped bezels for faceted stones. Students will learn techniques for measuring, constructing, soldering, and setting with accuracy, while gaining a deeper understanding of stone fit and bezel design. This is a technique class where you will learn techniques to practice in your own time or in regular block classes.

This class will run over 3 separate 3hr sessions and is working towards creating a simple band ring with a stepped bezel. Session 1 will cover the technique, demonstrations and the basics of measuring and preparing the setting.

Students will design their piece and begin the construction. Session 2 will pick up on the setting techniques, reminding and refining essential steps in the process. Students can expect to be soldering in this class. Session 3 Trouble shooting can be covered in this class, as well as learning to clean up the settings.

Students may begin a second setting that they can continue in their own time. We will be working in copper for this class ( silver is available for purchase, but we recommend making your first project in copper first). Students should expect to have at least one completed set project and possibly some other practice pieces begun by the end of the three classes.

What is provided: class fees cover your practice metal (copper) and stones (CZ) and detailed handouts that are useful for you to take away to refer to when practicing and honing your skills.
