XYZZY is a unique planetarium experience that blends contemporary art, animation, and electronic music into an immersive visual journey.
Created by artist Jess Johnson and director Simon Ward, the show transforms hand-drawn illustrations into a constantly evolving digital world. Expect surreal forms, repeating structures, and abstract landscapes that shift and expand across the dome.
The soundtrack features atmospheric electronic music, adding to the hypnotic and otherworldly feel of the experience.
Presented as part of New Zealand Music Month, XYZZY runs every Friday in May, with a special Q&A session after the final screening.
Recommended for ages 14+. Some scenes include strobe effects, which may not be suitable for all viewers.
