A fantastic taster class in 2 that is full of inspiration! Early bird pricing till 2 November.
Mini mosaics are really quick and simple to make - but can create a really popping design with beautiful coloured glass and fun shapes to decorate.
We will use gorgeous coloured glass pieces to create our designs on small flat backings - this is a very beginner-friendly method, and allows for several pieces to be made within the class time.
This class runs over two sessions; this means you have time to do all the parts of a mosaic.
The planning, the glueing, and then your pieces have time to dry so you can then do the grouting and finishing off. A fantastic course that's super fun as a one-off experience - or to dip your toe into working with glass mosaics.
You can have the finished items as either:
- A set ready to hang on a wall as singles
- On a large sturdy jumpring ready to hang as a cute pendant set (or earrings)
- On a cord for an heirloom Christmas ornament.
The class covers:
- Preparing your bases and materials
- Planning and choosing simple designs to make your mosaics really pop
- How to snip your glass down into tiny pieces if needed (most pieces are already cut for you)
Working with adhesives, tips and tricks with tools. In the second session we will continue finishing off your mosaics, selecting the grout you like, and learning how to apply and clean up this essential part of a mosaic.
Finally we will look at what mounting options and special additions you might want to add to your piece that will complete the design.
You are welcome to continue creating more mosaics and can purchase additional materials to do so. Any that require grouting after the class is completed can either:
- Be completed by our team (for a small fee)
- Be grouted by you later, we can supply the grout and some sealant for you to take home
This is a warm, friendly class with excellent support and learning for complete beginners and those who want to start working with hand-cut glass terraria.
All tools are supplied, though you are welcome to bring your own tools and glass if you have them. Your materials for the class projects are supplied as part of your course fee.
Young makers aged 12 and up are welcome to join the class, as long as they are able to work safely with sharp glass and tools.
Anyone under the age of 16 must attend with an enrolled parent or caregiver who is there to support them and participate alongside them.
